Open Project presents: PROJECTOR

A grassroots video competition showcasing the talent, culture and raw stories of Australian climbing. This series provides space for climbers and filmmakers to share their work and inspire psych across the Australian climbing community.

Judging Criteria

Effort

  • Level of try hard
  • Grit across all climbing levels, points not awarded based on difficulty alone

Cinematography 

  • Visual, technical and narrative strength 

Impact

  • Influence of the film on climbing culture, community and/or environment

Delivery

  • Concept, creativity and production

Rules of Play

Short film must feature one or both of: 

  • Australian climbing location(s) 
  • Australian climber(s)

Short film must be original and unreleased, however previously aired footage may be incorporated within reason. 

Max. Duration: 10 minutes

Aspect Ratio: Horizontal format only (16:9 or 4:3) 

Format: For best results, submit in MP4 format using the H.264 codec

Music & Licensing: Any music used must be purchased/licensed for use OR original music you’ve created OR Royalty-free tracks that allow use on YouTube and in competitions.

2. Follow the link at the top of the form to UPLOAD your video submission to Open Project WeTransfer.

**The Projector award highlights stories that are often underrepresented in climbing media. This award recognises the video that inspires others by breaking barriers, challenging norms, and showing that climbing is a space for everyone.

Voting for cinematography award and projector award concludes at the end of qualifying round and will be announced on the 14th Dec.

For submissions to be eligible, competitors must complete the above form AND upload video file (with associated matching file name) to Open Project WeTransfer link.
